Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the article is to indicate which elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystem affect the processes of digitization of the economy (in the opinion of Polish entrepreneurs). THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: In the literature on the subject, the dimensions, pillars and elements of the entrepreneurial ecosystem are defined by the authors as differentiation, but the coherence of concepts for all common areas allows us to examine which of them are most important in the acceleration of technological progress (digitization). To achieve this goal, data collected in a nationwide survey of enterprises (n = 302) were used. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The study analyzes the concepts of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and its dimensions, as well as the digitization of processes taking place in the ecosystem. The need for a dual view of digitization processes was indicated, i.e. from the inside (what companies do to introduce digitization) and from the outside (how the entrepreneurial ecosystem affects digitization processes). RESEARCH RESULTS: The results of the conducted research clearly indicate the main role of state policy in strengthening digitization processes, other elements are assessed as important, but they depend on the size and sectors of the economy in which enterprises operate. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Government policy is the most powerful element of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It affects digitization processes and adaptation activities of enterprises regardless of their size. Further research on the ecosystem and its structure should take into account the role of enterprises in the functioning of the ecosystem as a whole.
