Summary/Abstract: The concept of sustainability permeates all economic sectors and business segments, which makes it current and important both for the professional and the academic community. The Sustainable Development Goals take into account a holistic approach, linking economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection. Insurance can play a significant role in achieving the goals of sustainable development through a multiplicative effect on all three mentioned dimensions. Acceptance of the sustainable concept by insurance companies increases their opportunities to develop green products. The aim of this paper is to examine the degree of development and application of green insurance in the markets of Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, to indicate the possibilities and limitations of the development of this relatively new type of insurance. Survey research will provide answers on the level of knowledge and application of green insurance in selected markets, as well as on the potential of developing green insurance products. This work will provide both a scientific and a practical contribution that will benefit many actors who contribute in different ways to the development of green insurance.
