Summary/Abstract: The educational policy of inter-war Yugoslavia attempted to create a united Yugoslav nation via the means of education and textbooks. Education was perceived as means of formation and promotion of national unity in a spirit of state unitarism. The aim the paper is to analyse history education in inter-war Yugoslavia. Namely, I attempt to draw my attention to the analysis of the curricula and the Yugoslav history textbooks which should have materialized a state-promoted goal of both education and educational policy – the establishment of a united Yugoslav identity, by providing their ideological perception of history, either by targeted selection of historiographic materials or the imagined scope of the Yugoslav national story.
