Summary/Abstract: When considering the crucial resources for running a successful business, one common and widely accepted answer is the company's people. People are seen as the heart of every organization. The success of a company is directly linked to the success of its people, who are considered the heart of the organization. Their work, knowledge, and experience are essential to achieving business goals. Therefore, nowadays human resource management is considered to be one of the most important business functions which role is, not only to ensure an adequate human capital, but also to create a framework for employee growth and retention within the organization. In order to motivate them and boost their productivity, company leaders endeavor to understand the employees' needs and expectations. One of the key factors to be taken into account in assessing effective leadership is the national culture in which the company operates and from which its employees come. This is because people develop different attitudes and assumptions about desirable and acceptable values when they are influenced by their culture. Therfore, to lead people effectively and achieve positive outcomes, it is important for a leader to comprehend what motivates and drives their employees, as well as to identify potential sources of resistance. This paper investigates the influence of national culture on leadership, specifically examining whether the national culture can be used as a tool to identify the most preferred leadership styles. The research conducted on a sample of employees from various companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina revealed that employees do indeed prefer leadership styles that are aligned with the fundamental assumptions of their national culture.
