Summary/Abstract: One of the key areas of social responsibility of any enterprise, whether it is in private or state/public ownership, is its responsibility towards a workplace. Many authors suggest that socially responsible activities a company can undertake in the area of human resources also depend on a business environment the company operates in. Therefore, questions of discrimination or sexual harassment will be up-to date in developed countries, while questions of minimal wages, safety at work, child labour, etc. will be more important in less developed countries. An issue of corporate social responsibility in the workplace, with an emphasis on the companies doing business in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are the focus of this article. As comparison data, results of two best companies to work for polls, one conducted by the Fortune magazine in the USA and the other conducted by Posao.ba in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are used. The results show a significant difference in a perception of potential employees in what makes a company the best to work for.
