The scope of using information systems supporting maintenance

Summary/Abstract: Nowadays, more and more production companies use sophisticated information systems dedicated to supporting maintenance. This is due to the development of concepts such as Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things, which allow for effective monitoring of machine performance. Software dedicated to maintenance can embrace Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, that sustain various business processes, and decision support systems designed only for the field of maintenance. This paper aims to present the scope of application of information systems to supporting different maintenance strategies. There is also described to what extent the use of an information system is more preferable than another for a specific maintenance strategy. Moreover, this paper includes the proposed approach to predict the number of machine failures using econometric models.
