Summary/Abstract: In stories for young children, the realm of imagination goes hand in hand with a vivid recovery of reality. It is primarily through the use of interjections and direct speech that the author’s fantasy succeeds in documenting and illuminating the world, while also preparing the young audience to face the real world. Our study will focus on a tale published in October 2025 in the magazine Histoires pour les petits by Milan Presse, with the aim of identifying markers of orality, modality, and subjectivity that reveal the speaker’s point of view and the context of the communicative situation. Furthermore, we will also explore how a sample of students of language and literature translates the interjections from the source text into Romanian.
