Summary/Abstract: This paper offers a theoretical and critical analysis of ChatGPT as a form of machine-generated discourse, with illustrative examples from Romanian. It investigates how generative artificial intelligence models construct and use language, adopting an interdisciplinary perspective that connects linguistics, epistemology, and communication studies. The title, "In ChatGPT’s Language," refers both to the user’s adaptation to a new interactional register and to the larger influence of AI on current discursive practices. The paper argues that ChatGPT can be understood as a quasi-agentic communicative interface: a system that simulates intentional, context-sensitive interaction and participates in discourse production without possessing genuine agency, consciousness, or semantic understanding. The analysis is organized around three main axes: linguistic, examining coherence, stylistic variation, and mimetic reproduction of human writing; epistemological, addressing the distinction between knowledge and algorithmic text generation; and pragmatic-socio-cultural, considering the implications of AI-generated discourse for education, authorship, communication, and cultural representation. Particular attention is given to Romanian, especially idioms, humor, irony, forms of address, and cultural nuance. Ultimately, the paper suggests that ChatGPT’s language functions both as a communicative tool and as a reflective surface for rethinking communication, authorship, and understanding in the age of generative AI.
