Summary/Abstract: The heritage of Romania’s university libraries is currently evolving at the intersection of the centuries-old legacy of print and the horizon of the digital age. The article examines the methods and technologies through which the traditional collections of a nationally significant institution such as the “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library are being transformed into digital resources. It considers the impact of strategies for the preservation, digitization, and utilization of university library heritage on emerging reading practices and new ways of processing information, highlighting the role of digital technologies in improving access to knowledge and democratizing information. The study explores the need for an integrated vision that combines respect for the legacy of print with the opportunities offered by new technologies, thereby supporting the educational and cultural mission of university libraries in contemporary society.
