Summary/Abstract: The article examines the dynamics of identity reconstruction and redefinition within the Romanian community of the Chernivtsi region (Northern Bukovina, Northern Bessarabia, and the Hertsa region) against the backdrop of a continuously evolving socio-political landscape. At the heart of the analysis is the manner in which the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Romanians in this region—expressed through their mother tongue, local traditions, religious life, and shared historical memory—confronts contemporary challenges while simultaneously seeking new forms of expression and continuity. Drawing on the data and findings of the sociological study The Romanian Community of Chernivtsi, Transcarpathia, and Odesa: Social Barometer 2024, conducted by the Institute for Political Studies and Social Capital with the support of the Romanian Government, the article explores the multiple dimensions of these identity reconfigurations through a multidimensional approach. It also examines the profound impact of the Russo-Ukrainian War on the demographic profile of the Romanian community, with particular attention to migration, declining birth rates, and reduced access to Romanian-language education.
