Summary/Abstract: The article examines the profi le of a member of the Ukrainian intelligentsia in the People's Republic of Poland, set in the context of the actions of Polish and Soviet security agencies against the entire milieu. Mirosław Truchan's biography was both typical and unique: he was under surveillance, arrested, and ultimately forced into exile. However, he was not only a Ukrainian activist but, above all, a talented writer, literary scholar, and historian. He left behind a signifi cant body of work. Virtually unknown to the broader public, he was also forgotten within Ukrainian circles in Poland.
