Summary/Abstract: Education in the mother tongue represents a fundamental mechanism for preserving cultural identity and ensuring the equal social status of national minorities. In the context of the Republic of Serbia, the Bosniak community exercises its constitutional and legal right to education in the Bosnian language; however, in practice, it faces numerous structural and institutional constraints. The most prominent among these is the lack of adequately trained teaching staff, which directly affects the quality, continuity, and sustainability of instruction. This paper analyzes the normative framework governing the use of the Bosnian language in education, examines the key challenges in the formation of teaching staff, and highlights the need for a strategic approach to the development of teachers’ professional competencies. Particular attention is given to the role of universities, national councils, and educational institutions in creating a sustainable model of minority-language education. The findings indicate that the systematic training of teachers is a necessary precondition for preserving the linguistic identity of the Bosniak community, improving the quality of education, and ensuring the long-term functioning of instruction in the Bosnian language in Serbia.
