Summary/Abstract: Since the nineteenth century, the mass media has served as an essential channel for disseminating information to the public. Within the Romanian cultural space, the agricultural press emerged during the 19th century and underwent significant development throughout the 20th century through the diversification of its content and areas of specialization. Agricultural publications appeared on a regular basis and addressed a wide range of fields related to agriculture, including viticulture, horticulture, fruit growing, forestry, agronomy, and animal husbandry. This article aims to provide a historical overview of the origins and development of the Romanian agricultural press by identifying the main publications that appeared during the 19th and 20th centuries, outlining the topics they addressed, and examining their thematic segmentation. The study also explores the historical context that favored the emergence of agricultural journalism, while highlighting the contributions of the founders, editors, and collaborators involved in the publication of newspapers and magazines dedicated to this field. The research begins with an examination of the earliest general newspapers that included sections devoted to agricultural issues and continues with the analysis of specialized agricultural periodicals. A special attention is paid to the role played by these publications in promoting agricultural knowledge and to their contribution to the broader cultural and intellectual development of Romanian society.
