Summary/Abstract: Traces of oral folklore tradition existed before the 17th century, but this is the period in which the genre truly developed, sources of inspiration were exploited, and authors applied their personalized vision, against the backdrop of a vast ensemble of themes, motifs, characters, and moralizing intentions. Dream and illusion are concepts closely related to both the Baroque manifestation in general and the specific realm of fairy tales and stories. This paper aims to analyse how these categories influenced the visual imagination of the era.
