Summary/Abstract: The article examines the concept of the lexical-semantic field and the main theories that have contributed to its definition and development in modern linguistics. It analyzes the contributions of scholars such as G. Ipsen, J. Trier, L. Weisgerber, E. Coșeriu, O. Ducháček, and A. Bidu-Vrânceanu, highlighting various interpretations of the notions of semantic field and lexical relations. The study presents the typology of lexical and semantic fields, the criteria used for their classification, and the role of semantic relations in the organization of a language's vocabulary. It also emphasizes the similarities and differences among scholars' views regarding the structure of fields and the relationship between lexical, conceptual, and semantic fields. Based on this analysis, the lexical-semantic field is adopted as a structure that groups lexical units sharing a common semantic denominator, serving as an important tool for the study of the lexical system of a language.
