Summary/Abstract: In the conditions of modern education, the formation of functional literacy in preschool children is a key moment in preparation for future learning. Fairy tales, as a traditional form of children's literature, perform multiple functions that support the development of children's linguistic, cognitive, emotional and social competencies and contribute to the development of functional literacy. Practical methods used in working with fairy tales – such as reading aloud, dramatizations, creative activities and group discussions - allow teachers to achieve high results that can be observed both in kindergarten and in the social behavior of children outside it. Using fairy tales as a tool, we can not only improve functional literacy, but also lay a solid foundation for the future academic and social development of children. This makes their application an excellent tool in pedagogical interaction.
