Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the history of the founding and development of the parish of Saint Abraham in Shchutinsk (Kazakhstan). The author focuses on the historical and social context of the post-communist country, analysing the stages of formation of the Catholic community and the difficulties associated with missionary activity, in particular: the beginnings of the Catholic community, formed in the 1920s as a result of displacement and persecution; the registration and construction of a new church; the presence of Catholics from various nationalities (Kazakhs, Rusyns, Poles); and the organization of various religious events (retreats, family gatherings, activities for local communities). The author emphasizes the importance of inculturation and the need to use the Kazakh language in pastoral care to counter the stereotypical view of “Catholicism as a foreign religion”. The article serves not only as a historical document but also analyses the current challenges facing the Catholic community in Kazakhstan.
