Summary/Abstract: To investigate the efficacy of group music therapy for children with autism, eight participants aged 8–12 years without prior music intervention were recruited from a rehabilitation centre in X City, China. They underwent 18 group music therapy sessions. Assessment was conducted using the ABC Scale, with paired t-tests applied for analysis. Results indicated that post-intervention, subjects‘ total ABC scale scores and scores across all dimensions – sensory, social interaction, language, physical motor skills, and self-care – significantly decreased. Improvements in social interaction and language core deficits were markedly pronounced, while self-care abilities, though enhanced, remained a relatively weaker area. Conclusion: Group music therapy effectively improves overall symptoms and multidimensional functioning in children with autism, demonstrating particularly notable efficacy in addressing social communication deficits.
