Summary/Abstract: The financial sector, channeling savings into investments, transforming economic risks and organizing a payment infrastructure represents a crucial element of any social - economic system. Its size and structure, both in technical as well as in economic dimensions, impacts social and economic structures and processes as well as remains under the influence of these structures and processes. Demographic characteristics of the nation for example impact the level and allocation of savings as well as directions of investment undertaken. Pension system architecture may on the other hand have significant impact on the institutional structure of the financial sectors and financial markets and henceforth on the structure of the real sector of the economy.
