Summary/Abstract: Foreign direct investments (FDI) play both a fundamental and instrumental role in the transformation process. This was at least the truth with regard to the post-Soviet Central and East European economies including Poland. It provided necessary capital, know-how, new markets and market conduct spirit, characteristic for the market economy.
