Summary/Abstract: Taoism /Daoism/ is a comprehensive socio-cultural, spiritual and material universe that originated in China 2,500 years ago. This universe influences the lives of people in East and Southeast Asia, shaping governance, spirituality, art, medicine, and daily life. Taoism is a socio-cultural universe, and, in its millennial history, a tradition characterized as an open system. It has managed to include and synthesize various local features, traditions and beliefs, as well as other socio-cultural universes, such as Buddhism and Confucianism. The result of this inclusion is a colorful kaleidoscope, in the center of which, however, harmony with Tao /The Way/, i.e., the balance between opposites and life in harmony with nature, always remains.
