Summary/Abstract: There is one key positive moment in the history of Bulgarian-Chinese relations and interactions – the official recognition by Bulgaria of the People’s Republic of China proclaimed on October 1, 1949. The People's Republic of Bulgaria, as was the official name of our country at the time, became the second country in the world after the USSR to grant this recognition. Such international support was important for the newly-proclaimed People's Republic of China. The act of recognition itself was preceded by fateful events in the history of both parties, which constitute the prerequisites for that act. For the Chinese people, this was a national liberation, an anti-imperialist fight against Japanese militarism, part of the international battle against the global fascist plague. The establishment of diplomatic relations started the "golden period" in the friendly relations and interactions between our two peoples.
