Summary/Abstract: Orthodox religion occupies, as a percentage, an important third place in the European Union, a political and economic entity which today consists of 28 countries. The four Orthodox majority states of the EU bring about 40 million Orthodox Christians, out of a total of about 500 million citizens of this structure. Only considering this number can easily achieve the „weight” that Orthodoxy has in the European Union and the role that the Orthodox Churches have in the construction process of Europe. At the moment, realizing the importance of institutionalized dialogue with European bodies, the Orthodox Church founded its own offices of direct representation in Brussels. These offices have the role of influencing decision-making even before they are put on the agenda of the EU institutions, or by taking part in consultations with these institutions on topics already on the agenda. The Orthodox Church brings its contribution to the stability, ethics and prosperity of the united Europe.
