Summary/Abstract: This study examines the genesis of the 1975 Slovak television series A Friend for the Two of Us (Kamarátka pre nás dvoch). Drawing on an overview of Milan Kundera’s unofficial dramatic works, it focuses primarily on an intermedial analysis of the literary source material for the series, a text written by Kundera but officially submitted at that time by the Slovak dramaturge Peter Ševčovič. Using the comparative method, the study subsequently seeks to identify further poetic, motivic, and formal evidence for Kundera’s authorship. It concludes by comparing the source text with the resulting audiovisual work and with Ševčovič’s later Slovak prose of the same title, which was subsequently published in Czech translation as well.
