Summary/Abstract: The topic of the article is the Romanesque foundation tympanum from the former abbey of St Vincent at Ołbin, the so-called Jaxa Tympanum. The author attempts a new interpretation of its purpose, date of production and ideological message. In his view, the bas-relief sculpture was intended to symbolically present the reconciliation of the two founders shown therein and to affirm the senioral authority over Silesia.
