Energy in the light of film archive sources

Summary/Abstract: The present study presents films preserved in the National Film Archive that are related to theenergy industry. The topic is divided into two subchapters. In the first, the author discusses newsand documentary films, mainly dealing with the production and conservation of electricity.The accident which was related to gas distribution cannot be omitted. Here we encounter notonly classic documentaries but also fictional political agitprop. In the second part, the authorcharacterizes selected feature films made after 1948, where the most space is devoted to thenormalization drama Hrozba. The text further aims to present to the professional and lay publican unconventional archival source for interpreting the complicated history of the 20th century.
