Summary/Abstract: This paper examines preferences in foreign language learning based on surveys conducted among 72 Polish students of applied linguistics and philology, compared with 65 Ukrainian and 66 Chinese students of Polish philology. Respondents were asked about their preferences and the perceived usefulness of selected grammar and vocabulary exercises as well as their general attitudes toward language learning. Ukrainian students reported the highest average ratings, while the Chinese group assessed the usefulness of exercises significantly higher than the enjoyment derived from completing them. Polish students were the least enthusiastic in both categories.
