PLAY AS THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES. THE EXAMPLE OF EXTRACURRICULAR CLASSES IN THE YOUTH PALACE IN WARSAW

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents selected key aspects of teaching languages to young learners who attend extracurricular English-language classes in the Youth Palace in Warsaw. Learning languages therein is often associated with a typically school activity - perceived as boring, time-consuming and tiresome. Therefore, effort is made that workshops engage various perception channels of students who should in turn feel that they do not engage in learning, but instead have fun with friends. Selected examples of language games and activities are shown with a view to demonstrating how to adapt the materials to provide interactive tasks that refer to interests of the group.
