THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURES AND ATTITUDES OF THE MEMBERS OF YOUTH CLIMATE STRIKES

Summary/Abstract: Purpose | The main objective of the study is to analyse the governance structures of youth movements and the attitudes of their members involved in climate strikes on the example of Poland and Sweden. Research method | The study was conducted in three stages using trend analysis, survey methodology and direct interviews. Results | The organisation and management of youth climate strikes in the discussed countries do not meet the characteristics indicated for non-governmental organisations, in particular in terms of specific professionalisation, division of tasks, human resources and cooperation. This applies in particular to the group operating in Poland. The obtained results may cause problems with the continuation of effective and efficient Fridays For Future activities in the future, which is particularly important in the context of the deepening climate crisis and its significance for future generations. Originality / value / implications / recommendations | This is the first study in the scientific literature to show a comparison of the governance structures of youth climate strikes at the national level pointing out international differences and similarities. The conclusions of the analysis can provide an impetus for further research on youth
