Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes narrative and visual strategies in five Holocaust picturebooks published in the United States (1975–2004). The study employs an iconotextual approach, taking into account Lydia Kokkola’s and Elizabeth Baer’s criteria of ethical representation as well as the concept of postmemory. The analysis reveals diverse practices – ranging from realistic autobiographical narratives to manipulations and distortions – that demonstrate both the educational potential of these texts and the need for their critical mediation by adults.
