Summary/Abstract: The article The Figure of the Global Teenager in Contemporary Polish Prose for Children and Young Adults (Beręsewicz, Orlińska, Ryrych) examines literary representations of young protagonists through the sociological concept of the “global teenager.” The discussion focuses on Generations Z and Alpha, whose identities are shaped by globalization, digitalization, and the contradictions of the contemporary world. The analysis encompasses three novels: Szeptane by Paweł Beręsewicz, Wstydu za grosz! by Zuzanna Orlińska, and Król by Katarzyna Ryrych. The protagonists of these works – Filip, Julianna, and Patryk – operate within a reality close to that of the global teenager, yet their experiences primarily revolve around ethical, emotional, and social challenges. The narratives address, among other issues, the consequences of producing fake news, crises of identity and depression, as well as the impact of bankruptcy and domestic violence. The article concludes that Polish prose for children and young adults employs the category of the global teenager not as a rigid model but as a framework for a deeper exploration of the challenges faced by contemporary youth. In this way, it provides support in the process of identity formation and fosters discussion on socially significant issues.
