Summary/Abstract: The article presents considerations on the strophoid as a poem’s formal structure written in a free verse, which is an equivalent of a strophe. By comparing various uses of the term and its definitions taken from encyclopedias, dictionaries, and scientific works written in Polish, I consider the differences between stanza and strophoide (quasi-strophe), looking for significant differences between these two literary phenomena. Reading poetic texts, as well as comparing and analysing such features of strophes like: rhyme, lineation, metrics, number of lines, syntactical, and graphic identity and integrality, I present an observation that allows us to reorganise the existing knowledge on strophiness.
