Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper is to outline the characteristics of the legal changes related to the ownership of post-Uniate estates in the interwar Poland. After 1918, the Uniates made efforts to regain the estates lost in the 19th century. The Polish state managed the said estates. The regulation of the property matters of the Uniates depended on the statutory regulation of the legal relationship on the state-church level. An analysis of legal provisions and a review of the literature was applied. In 1938, the property rights of Catholics to the Uniates' estates, which had been taken over by them in 1918, were sanctioned. In 1939, the Orthodox Church was enfranchised of the properties it had held at the time of the restoration of Poland's independence and throughout the interwar period. It was also granted ownership of the properties that had been placed under state administration in 1918 and 1920. Other properties held by the Orthodox Church became state property. The regulation of the property rights of the various churches is a vital aspect of the state-church relationship. The issue of the properties of the Uniates would continue after World War II.
