Summary/Abstract: The article presents the consequences of applying Roman Jakobson’s opposition of verse pattern and verse instance to the analysis of metrical poetic texts accompanied by music. Using Mikhail Lotman’s concept of secondary rhythm and Jakobson’s distinction, expands this opposition with an additional dyad: the musical-design and the musical-instance to demonstrate how, in the case of sung poetry, the rhythmic orders of verse and music exist towether, jointly shaping the actual rhythmics of the poetic text.
