Summary/Abstract: The situation of Palestinian refugees, a fundamental issue in the Middle East, has become particularly complex in Lebanon, warranting a thorough examination of living conditions within Palestinian refugee camps. This article investigates the consecutive massacres that started during the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) and continued with the 1982 occupation of Sabra and Shatila by Israeli forces and Lebanese Maronite Christian groups, amidst a subsequent crisis of forced displacement. The text delves deeper into the distinct forms of atrocities and persecution faced by Palestinian refugees within the context of "othering," "politicization," and "invisibility." This study also examines the legal frameworks adopted by the Lebanese state since the establishment of refugee camps in 1948, assessing their impact on the refugee population and suggesting alternative policy options. The conclusion assesses both "temporary" and "permanent" solutions to the Palestinian refugee crisis in Lebanon in light of contemporary developments.
