Summary/Abstract: The continuous concern for the world of dance makes me address a very topical issue/theme for pre-university education in choreography high schools: the History of Dance textbook. After over 30 years of stage experience, I can affirm that the professional dancer of all times lays the foundations of choreographic art while still in school. Dance is a multidimensional discipline, which apparently boils down to practice, but it has multiple related theoretical sides of a historical, aesthetic, psychological, anatomical and geographical nature. Therefore, today's student - future dancer or teacher - needs a complete specialized training: theoretical and practical. Currently, the book History of Ballet by Tilde Urseanu (coordinator), Editura Muzicală, Bucharest, 1967, is used (if it exists!) as a substitute for the textbook for the History of Ballet subject for grades IX-XII. Comparing the structure of the volume with those mentioned above, it does not meet all the above functions. I believe that the modern student feels the acute need for a school textbook through which to obtain analytical knowledge of dance from its origins to the present. The creation of a material that would have the role of developing the skills of processing the stages of dance evolution, along with suggestions for video and bibliographical materials, could also mean connecting to current educational standards.
