Summary/Abstract: This article examines the evolution of technical translation from its origins to the present day, analysing the impact of artificial intelligence on contemporary translation practice. Technical translation, traditionally regarded as a field defined by terminological precision and objectivity, is now undergoing a profound transformation driven by automated tools and neural network systems. The aim of the study is to reflect on whether artificial intelligence can truly replace the cognitive, ethical, and cultural competence of the human translator. Through original examples involving Spanish and Romanian, the paper explores the advantages, limitations, and dilemmas of this paradigm shift, highlighting the irreplaceable value of human judgement in the interpretation of meaning. Furthermore, it analyses the evolving role of the technical translator in the context of technological advances and argues for the need for a balanced collaboration between human and artificial intelligence in the construction of multilingual knowledge.
