Summary/Abstract: In this study we aimed to commemorate two high caliber musicians, Enescu and Bartók, born in the same year,in different areas of the country. Although we encountered multiple coincidences in the biographies and in the professional path of the two masters, we intended to highlight aspects related to a somewhat parallel evolution in the biographical and professional path of the two personalities. In this study we will look at the impact they have had on creating a nationally specific musical culture, their original mode of expression, and the place of honor occupied by each of them within the two National Schools that appeared in the 20th century, which they represent. Their adherence to this concept, which highlights the original folklore, was largely due to the socio-historical framework specific to that period, but, on the other hand, their direct contact with the most authentic sources of folklore, which we will identify and present in the content of this paper, represented for the two schools a huge step in their development at European level, but also a capitalization and recognition of the treasure represented by the popular creation originally brought to light by the activity of each of them.
