Summary/Abstract: In 1964, while in Romania Eminescology was succumbing or agonising, Rosa Del Conte managed to successfully reunite in Venice, in an exceptional setting and despite all physical or ideological barriers, some of the greatest names in eEinescology. At that meeting for the first time after decades of silence and separation, prestigious literary critics, philologists and linguists from both sides of the Iron Curtain were able to sit around the same “round” table, under the sign of Eminescu. The event, which has remained almost unknown to the Romanian public, can be now reconstructed thanks to new research sources, especially the Rosa Del Conte archival collection. Unpublished documents now make it possible to faithfully and realistically reconstruct those days that deserve to be brought back to attention and deeply analyzed. Therefore, the text is intended to be a reconstruction of a historical and cultural moment, characterized by the opposition of ideas and implicitly of people, located on either side of the Iron Curtain. Two worlds that became increasingly distant, despite some timid attempts at rapprochement and thawing in the 1960s, two worlds that could have found in Eminescu and in the universality of his work a strong and undeniable bond – or at least so it was hoped.
