Summary/Abstract: This paper provides a semantic analysis of colloquial phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential from the literary work of Derviš Sušić, Danilo u stavu mirno, focusing on the semantic field of male–female relationships. The analysis is centered on euphemistic, dysphemistic and slang phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential within this semantic field. In addition to meaning, attention is also given to their stylistic functions and gender implications. The aim of the paper is to show how male–female intimate relationships are represented through euphemistic, dysphemistic, and slang phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential. The analysis of colloquial phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential in the aforementioned literary work shows that euphemistic units achieve semantic mitigation through imagery and generalization. On the other hand, slang phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential are shown to be expressive and, in many cases, even vulgar in meaning, tending more toward concretization. Also, the dysphemistic phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential analyzed in this paper carry negative and derogatory meanings directed toward women and the female body, with vulgar connotations present in some examples as well. Across all analyzed phrasemes and expressions with phraseological potential , gender inequality is evident, particularly in the representation of women, who are viewed as objects of action. The analysis reveals a tendency towards gender asymmetry within the corpus. The examples excerpted from the novel Danilo u stavu mirno demonstrate a predominantly objectifying representation of female characters, reflecting unequal gender positioning and reinforcing traditional patterns of gender representation.
