Summary/Abstract: The authors of the article reflect on the production of knowledge outside traditional academic structures, exploring the boundaries between different forms and elements of knowledge building, with particular emphasis on relationships, emotions, and sound. Criticism of hierarchical structures of enfranchisement and appropriation of science leads us to the postulate of flattening power relations by appreciating socialized, participatory methods of knowledge building. The text combines the perspectives of feminist epistemology of science and sound studies to outline new, rebellious forms of knowledge development using examples of specific memory-building practices in a mining region.
