Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is laboratories that have played an important role in the fight against the disease caused by the coronavirus during the COVID-19 pandemic, but which have not yet been researched from a linguistic perspective (to our knowledge). This article uses linguistic discourse analysis to determine the conceptualisation of laboratories and labs in Austrian online media discourse on the coronavirus pandemic. Quantitative, lexicostatistical analyses are used to investigate the question of what knowledge about laboratories and labs is conveyed discursively. The analyses are based on a corpus that was compiled as part of a joint research project of the Eotvos Lorand University of Budapest and the Karl-Franzens University of Innsbruck.
