K desaťročiu literárnej tvorby Ľudmily Šandalovej
On the Tenth Anniversary of Ľudmila Šandalová's Literary Work

Summary/Abstract: The paper summarizes the literary work of Ľudmila Šandalová and contributes to the characterization of contemporary Rusyn literature in Slovakia. It maps the achievements of the author‘s works and analyses the poetics of her work, which primarily focuses on the children‘s reader. At the same time, it provides an insight into Šandalová‘s development as an author and points out the perspectives for the development of the author‘s potential on the basis of, among others, the latest publication Poppy Tales (2024). The paper accentuates the role of reading comprehension for the child reader, and encourages reflection on the use of cultural geography and cultural patterns in the development of cultural-identification efforts of the Rusyn population in Slovakia. It is based on the communicative method of storytelling as a perspective element of strengthening the linguistic competence of the child reader in the intercultural Rusyn-Slovak dialogue.
