Summary/Abstract: The review analysis the unfolding of the idea of fate in the novel “Vocation” [“Prizvanie”] by Boyana Nikolova through the figures of the main protagonists, Vihra and Tamara. It explores how the theme of the journey toward the self, classically interpreted through suffering and inner struggle, is reconfigured as a reflection of the attainment of universal harmony in the world. The analysis considers the ways in which the novel problematizes the structure of the social system, portraying it as one that suppresses individuality and imposes models of utility that reinforce existing social stereotypes. Particular attention is placed on the novel’s stylistic features and the cinematographic techniques employed in its narrative construction.
