Summary/Abstract: This study ventures to trace, but not to exhaust, the literary parallels and allusions that contemporary pop singer Taylor Swift has intertwined into the lyrics of her musical works from her first appearance on the music scene with the album “Taylor Swift” (2006) to her most recent album – “The Tortured Poets Departament” (2024). Although she has gone through several genre varieties in her musical evolution and her lyrics have undergone remarkable poetic development over the years, what Swift remained true to over this time is the inextricable link of her songs to literature. This article highlights many of the significant and recognizable literary references from the singer’s lyrics by theme and fovuses on the literary value and poeticism, incorporated in an artful and organic way into the contemporary pop sounding – a combination that has made Taylor Swift one of the most listened, awarded and beloved pop icons of the past two decades; and for some even a musical phenomenon.
