Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the notion of critical thinking, through its conceptual development. In order to have a better understanding, we will try to outline more precisely the meaning of this intensely used expression. Analytically, we will identify its essential components: reflective thinking, reflective thinking and metacognition, and their interplay.
