Summary/Abstract: The study clarifies the understanding of cohesion, coherence, and connectedness as fundamental properties of a text, highlighting their interrelatedness and the importance of linguistic means in creating textual connectedness. Based on an analysis of lexical connectors that ensure the formal-semantic interconnectedness of textual units, it examines the expression of coreferential relations in online news texts, especially in headlines. The study focuses primarily on literal repetition, synonymic repetition (including the use of hypernyms, hyponyms, univerbation, acronyms, and the substitution of proper names with common nouns), metaphorical, metonymic, and antonymic repetition. Through authentic examples, the author demonstrates that headlines employ diverse types of lexical means and their mutual relations not only to ensure textual cohesion and coherence, but also to attract readers’ attention and enhance the expressive impact of the text.
