Summary/Abstract: In the presented study, we focus on an analysis and confrontational comparison of the concept of verbal and verbal-non-verbal subjectless or one-member sentences in contemporary Czech and Slovak language. Investigating and analyzing in detail these sentence types in both languages resulted from our long-term interest in the issue of the verb and its central position in two-member and especially one-member sentences. Based on Czech and Slovak morphological and syntactic professional literature, we define Czech subjectless sentence and Slovak one-member sentence; characterize their verbal and verbal-non-verbal types from the lexical-semantic and grammatical point of view, focusing on identifying the common features and differences in the concepts of subjectless sentences or one-member in both languages.
