Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to highlight the importance of early patriotic education and to explore its influence on children's development. Specifically, it investigates how six-year-olds form their understanding of the concept of "homeland." The study identifies children's initial definitions of this concept and analyzes how exposure to literary works on patriotism shapes their conceptions and overall knowledge of their homeland. A qualitative research strategy was employed, using an educational experiment in which literary texts served as indirect stimuli. The participants were 50 preschool children aged six. Their definitions of "homeland" were analyzed twice--before and after exposure to selected literary works--to assess how these stimuli affected their understanding. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis, supported by the MAXQDA 22 tool. The findings show that engaging preschool children with literature on patriotism not only enhanced their conceptual understanding of "homeland," but also stimulated cognitive curiosity, encouraged reflective thinking, and inspired actions related to patriotic values.
