The analysis of ASEAN strategic narratives

Summary/Abstract: The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an alliance promoting economic and political cooperation by boosting dialogue among its ten members. What is more, ASEAN constantly empower its role as a leading international organization in the Southeast Asia region. It has also became an important partner for all major actors in the globe. The article aims to present how the ASEAN seek to define itself through its use of strategic narratives. I begin by defining what the strategic narratives analysis is. Next, by using this analysis, I will examine how ASEAN is building its own narrative. Understanding this strategic narrative is essential in explaining the ASEAN policy too. Finally, I will summarize the article with some conclusions regarding the need for further research.
